Some of the best records of all time have 8-10 songs. Less can surely be more. For me, it is better to wish there was another song than wish they'd stopped 2-3 songs ago, just like a concert.
The new Q reports that Love Dies Young is the closest they’ll get to ABBA-pop, while Shame Shame is 2 chords, a drumbeat and a vocal.
“There are a lot of things we’d keep from doing before and this time we let them all go. Simplicity in music is much more difficult than complexity, I think.”
Keep it simple! I love rami jaffee and his contributions to the band, but it is weird to me how they could go from a band that hardly used keys on the first four albums to suddenly being a band that has keys on every single song. Nothing wrong with rami, but rather with the bands approach to arrangements.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: There was so much planned for this anniversary. How has it been for you to just watch all that sort of fall away?
DAVE GROHL: I try not to think about it too much, because we put about a year’s worth of work into this year — meaning we started preparing multiple projects all to release now. There was a documentary, there was another secret project that we were so excited about, there was a tour, there’s a new album, we made a video... I mean, all of these things are just waiting to be released, and I was really looking forward to all of them to come out together for the anniversary.
Now that being said, all of that went out the window when the pandemic became what it is now. I forgot about the band, I forgot about the album, I forgot about the documentary and the video and I focused on my family — just as I’m sure everybody else did.
Except all the Foo fans were also focussing on when the new album was coming out.. they didn't forget!
I went to the newsagents today to see if they had Q in but they're still on the April issue, could be some months before July gets here 🤣
My MOJO has gone awol, they said they sent it, they've offered to send another one but I'm guessing they probably don't have any left by now, luckily that did arrive in the newsagents!
I dreamt that they released an album last night. And that they were touring in my garage. The album had three songs that were close to 15 minute each and one was a cover of Iron Maidens Rime of the ancient mariner.
How ridiculous is it that touring garages is something not only absolutely possible, but that it's been done already?! I had forgotten about it until I read your "DREAM" lol.

Didn't I read somewhere it's supposed to be a 43 minute runtime? Maybe I'm imagining that.
Either way, when are we going to hear something new?! I'm getting SO sick of waiting.
I dunno man, some of us are 25 older and we appreciate the lightness in TNLTL! So, Dave might be wrong on this one.
xD
This 👏🏻
If someone would share some infos from this new chat about 10th album, it will be welcome thank you
Short?
hmm... I don’t mind so much.

'Shame Shame'....White Stripes style.
keeping things simple is in the opposite direction to recent albums, especially having 3 guitarists, keys and backing vocals galore
Thanks for sharing, we are not ready ^^
This new record is clearly the opposite of Wasting Light but in a good way

I really like the idea about emphasis on melody DG talks about in the Q article.
Otherwise.. I feel a gimmicky one coming with the ABBA / Bowie references and all, still looking forward to hearing it!
Good listen....I love Dave's joy in describing the new record.

Where is this album? 😂😂
Depends on when they can start the tour, if they can go in autumn then late summer.
If not then probably early next year...
I know - I was just whining for nothing ;)
well i've got 9 days left on me calling there a song being released this month... highly doubt it will happen.
hope they prove me wrong!
They just changed their profile pic on Facebook to a boring b/w FF logo. I hope this means something. Can't remember what they had before.
i think it was just the same logo but a different photo of it. before that was dc jam and before that was the band photo i think.
so nothing really to report on it i guess.
album will be launched in the lead up to whenever they are able to play shows officially.
Any minute now... 🙄

Maybe next week will be the one ❤️

zilch
Any minute (month) now...
This was detailed in the 'music to listen to for this summer' section of Vanity Fair on June 12th.
"… the Foo Fighters’ 10th album, released on the 25th anniversary of their first album...."
Don't know where VF got the info from.
Saw that...interesting
