I've a feeling the wait may be a little longer yet.
Dave spoke to Kerrang! sometime in the past 10 days (the note is dated March) knowing they were putting out a 30 page history of the band. The information he gave about the new album was still very general - why not go in about specifics? Maybe because some aspects could still be subject to change? The Concrete & Gold playback in June 18 still had Soldier on the album...this time around journalists were told the lead single still hadn't been picked.
Then Foo Fighters have had no daytime airplay on Radio 1 in the past week, compared with The Killers whos old tracks suddenly started popping up here and there. Now, what a coincidence, The Killers announced yesterday on twitter they have a new song arriving tomorrow. Foo Fighters still have an old-school PR model, I fail to believe a song will just appear. Radio stations (at least the big boys) will be tipped off when to expect it & they'll ease the band back into their listeners ears.
It isn't too far off though. There's another big magazine cover feature coming next week which hopefully will have a lot more info and could kick the press off for album 10.
CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF DAVE GROHL’s post-grunge institution, while previewing their upcoming tenth studio album, MOJO gets in the van to revisit the band’s fraught birth. Meanwhile, our rifftastic covermount CD gathers the best mid-’90s US alt-rock from Sebadoh, Sugar, Superchunk, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and more.
Twenty-five years on, Dave Grohl and co return to the mid-’90s’ post-Kurt crunch, when success was far from assured. Plus! US alt-rock’s broader crisis, the Foos’ new film (with Ringo!) and new album news.
Still a documentary or did they finally make their “A Hard Day’s Night” (or Spiceworld) 😆
Kidding, but honestly one of the funniest things I’ve read was when some of the band were talking about Back and Forth and that they totally thought when Dave suggested they make “a movie” that he meant an actual movie. And they were still like “meh, sure”, before he clarified he meant a documentary.
Magazine's always have a cover date beyond the month it's released in. That issue is on shelves next Tuesday but I (being a subscriber) will get it tomorrow or Saturday.
Now that you mentioned it, I vaguely recall there being plans for a new documentary about the band, not sure if it’s true. Still think the movie mentioned is the one on the vans though.
In a magazine, highly unlikely to be any new key details. As I said about the Kerrang one, they don't tend to include information like that in print magazines because they cannot control when it gets out, and that is usually something they do want total control over. As soon as the magazines are printed the information can leak out before publish date.
Yes, two documentaries (the From Cradle to Stage docuseries and what presumably turned out to be What Drives Us) and a movie. He distinctly said movie separately from documentary.
Whoa. I wish they were out now! Any idea how they will be released? I wonder if the Foos produced it if they could sell from their store online and download.

I hope I'm wrong, but it could another month.
Could have been that the interview was done before the album playback so therefore they didn't want to get into specifics about it.
Also don't think there will be anything for a few weeks yet, and there will 100% be teasers/people talking about it on the radio etc.
Radio X is one to keep an eye on, they seem to always tease upcoming releases

Think my mate took some photos for it but they’re keeping v. quiet about it
It's a nice cover. Sometimes the free CD is themed around the lead feature - be interesting to see if this one is.
Another magazine is coming? 😊

Poeple still sell CDs? People still have CD players?
(I still have a CD player, I'm being facetious)
MOJO's last 2 cover features have been Jimi Hnedrix & New Order. Their target demographic definitely still own CD players.
I recall when you would get a magazine and there would be a 45 inserted. So a CD to me is still in the technology stack.
Mojo will bring more news than Kerrang! did;

Scan it for us, Paul!!! 😬
I think it’s Dave’s documentary about tour vans
You're probably right, but wasn't it hinted that there might be more than one project on the go at some point? I could be remembering wrong, though.
Now that you mentioned it, I vaguely recall there being plans for a new documentary about the band, not sure if it’s true. Still think the movie mentioned is the one on the vans though.
that's true, just for the 'May' edition i'd expect it to hit shelves in April some time.
and let us know if there's anything decent 👌
Do you think we will learn the new album name or something? ^^

I can see everywhere that concert are postponed, Why The Foos didn't talk about that?

How exciting !!

I'm sure there will be an announcement in the next day or two.
Maybe we will never see this album cause of the virus
