Then again, I'm describing time in a more abstract way if earth began at midnight last night and right now is midnight the next day, humanity's entire existence began at 11:59:01
I think they pushed it out to see how things went with Covid, and you don't need to be an epidemiologist to say um not well...
So if you are holding out to release it when you can definitely tour to promote it - then you might release in 2021 - or it could be 2022... hate to be a doomsayer but the truth is this thing could get a LOT worse yet, let alone timeframe.
Artists are dropping albums, so it's not like they are alone.
I think the merch drop this last week is a definite signal too.
Plus - in um Times Like These... they could record five new ones while they wait to tour again...
I think it will come out in late November/early December, not because of any holiday, but because of the quarter of the year where people are shopping more and more indoors. Management and the band probably want to get new music to fans. I think it will be the album, but would not be shocked if they concocted another 'St. Cecilia' type EP for us/them to build a bridge to the album.
It would be a great time to put out an EP/LP of lost tracks :) They wouldn't necessarily need to promote it with touring. We all know there is material there!
Right now i would rather have them make a new album. Since the recording of this album there has been some changes to the world. As the world changes, so does music and the way we perceive it. The album they made to celebrate their 25 years as band might not be the album the world need or want in crisis. Of course we are all curious to hear all recorded tracks from the band, but when things get pushed back it automatically builds up expectations to a level that was not intended in the first place (how many hardcore GnR-fans rates "chinese democrazy" as one of their highlights?) and we might be heading for a huge anticlimax.
Cosidering the bands strong tradition of recording albums twice I can see how a album recorded right now and released as soon as possible would be more rewarding than what we are currently waiting for. Put it in the vault and save it for a rainy day, I need some box fresh anthems, empowering and full of hope.
SNL starts up again in October. In the current conditions it'd seem like one of the only ways left to promo a new album. Also, December would be the 25th anniversary of their first appearance on the show.
They were talking about touring and then you can hear 'I will see you tomorrow' in a happy tone - it was Dave?- and they laughed and Nate came back saying sorry we're just wrapping up band practice
Here's the whole thing for anyone that with issues to watch or keep it - Ive trimmed the blank lead-in stuff from the front.
4.00 in is where "Might Be Dave" comes in - I also make out him saying something "... ??? a call from me" before he goes - 99% sure that's Dave.
Sad right at the start they talk about a couple of memorable things about the Crobar. No mention of it closing which was announced just a few days before this was done live.
Haha. It would be nice. I really don't see the reason not to release it. Other bands have released albums during the pandemic without touring. People really do need a boost during these times!

We did get new music! π
What a great new friendship! Nandi and Dave's kids will be the biggest rock band in the world in 2026.
Big smile on my face!π
Its a long minute. Maybe we should change it too "just a couple of minutes" to better match the wait?
I'd expect some news soon

Any (long) minute now... π
Think the album gets released this year or pushed to next year?
Maybe for Christmas.
But unlikely seeing how the pandemic is picking up again.
606 seconds??π€£
Joking aside I'm thinking Christmas.

That’s exactly what I think would be the most logical step to take. Wrote a real similar comment a while back on this.
Sooooon.
Any minute now
A very choppy feed but it's revealed that the band is rehearsing for something from about 11 minutes in...
Looks like they're in their second newer studio compound, too.

Seems likely
Maybe we'll get it for the primary gifting season..... something nice to find in my stocking!
I've not listened to it yet but Nate was on a show and made a slip about rehearsing.... live stream??? π€
Thanks for sharing! I'd love to have a beer with Nate. This is exciting that they have some rehearsing going on.
Not available in my country. Cunts.
What's this about? You guys are getting my hopes up.for the new album again.

Here's the section from the interview with band rehearsal and who we think is Dave in the background

As we've established, Dave has what is called in the industry as "basic release phobia".
I'm positive they'll cave in soon, but not without a fucking boom bang pow kaplowwwwww, even setting a "quarantine release strategy standard".
If ACDC will release an album this fall DG just won’t be able to sit on this record anymore..
I like the idea of releasing the new music + an additional CD with 'lost tracks' or newer recorded tracks.
@wol any minute now! Right?
Let’s hope so.
