We had a company call the other day and they said they thought lots of bands will wait until 2021 to release now when they have a better idea of what the touring situation is.
Just crossed my mind that as this album is more or less timed for the 25th celebrations - do you think it’s possible its momentum will pass and it won’t get released? Maybe they’ll come up with new music that draws its inspiration from recent events?
Since the album is done and they've talked about it, i can't see them just leaving it. Also, that video that was posted that was not supposed to, was about one of the new songs, so there must be more things planned around it.
I suppose there's that one in a million chance that, with a few months off, they (Dave) goes back and listens again and decides he hates what they did and wants to start over but I kinda doubt that.
I wasn't entirely shocked when it happened with One by One but it'd seem very unlikely now.
had that thought a couple of months ago....finally releasing an album that he's probably moved on from, mentally and emotionally, and it doesn't represent him or the band or any new music he's now writing.....so, instead, perhaps just release the music as a couple of EPs online instead
I have not heard it. Or even really that much about it beyond 2 or 3 emails when they were maybe halfway done or so? If the world didn't catch on fire, I probably would've asked a few months ago but I figured it wouldn't work anyway, so why bother pestering him when all it can do is be annoying.
If that were to happen, I think it's more likely he just dump it and start over. But I think the One By One Million Dollar crap was sort of a perfect storm of circumstances. The band had a lot more pressure and expectations from how much bigger they'd gotten from Nothing left to lose where they were winning multiple grammys and had like 5 legit hits and saw the size of shows get bigger and bigger. That and weird stuff like Taylor almost dying and shit and personality clashes and shit.
I know the excitement level and vibe in 2001/2002 seemed to change from when they moved recording and shit from Dave's basement in Virginia to some fancy studio in LA . I didn't expect to get a phone call from Schu telling me there might not be a tour cause there might not be an album or a band in March, but them hating the record they made wasn't totally out of left field, especially when I looked back on it.
I'd be kinda surprised if 51 year old Dave falls into the same trap where they make something he's not going to like for at least a little while.
I mean, if everything is shut down for like.....2 years or some shit, ok maybe. But I'd assume its more likely to be a "he wrote newer shit he likes better now" point.
in fairness there were magazines released in the spring that said it was due summer, so it clearly has been put back, whether this is 100% or not is always up in the air.
fingers crossed either way. need some more new music right about now
The print issue of Conde Nast (where that interview came from) came out in June & at the time it read The Foo Fighters’ new album will be released later in 2020.
According to Google Autumn 2020 runs from Sep 22nd - Dec 21st, so it's no real difference to what they already said.
A Vanity Fair blurb suggested Summer 2020, so Autumn isn't much of a stretch. In any case, a release plan would usually come with a teaser or some kind of hint that something's coming, even indirect or discreet. I wouldn't put it past them to do a total surprise drop, all in one go.
BMI is showing that a new title has been added to their repertoire - however, i've scanned down the list five times and can't see anything new or different.

Still waiting huh? π
Any minute now...
Indeed. Next Wednesday would be good...
Is it known yet how many total songs were recorded for the new album??
I think it was eleven songs and about 43 minutes in length, but don't quote me on that.
What's the holdup? The anniversary came and went and nothing happened.
guess they delayed indefinitely until they can actually do stuff.
enforced ihateus.
In absence / honour of Wol - any minute now....
new Weezer album 'Van Weezer' pushed back to May 2021 (first single was released September 2019)!!
though, they hinted they'd release their other new album 'OK, Human' soon. Hopefully they do, before the year ends.
This is related to Foo Fighters releasing their new album....because......they're also a rock band from the 90s π€·ββοΈ

Nothing new there I guess, and makes sense

So.. You’ve heard it? (of course you have)

Can't take credit for spotting this, Vanessa did on Facebook.
New album due out Autumn 2020 article says................
woop. Hi Gee!
Any minute now guys.... it’s practically autumn! π
I am hesitant to believe this

Agree, new Foo music during "times like these" would be most welcome!

Perhaps a coincidence but a few minutes ago, responding to Nandi in the drum-off:
"Ok, @Nandi_Bushell ......you win round one....but it ain’t over yet! Buckle up, cuz I have something special in mind... Stay tuned, Dave'
Was just thinking the same..
Unsure but the only stuff that's not on albums or b-sides, whatever are Don't Stop the Music, Just, and Intro
I think they're both in there. It's also not quite as foolproof a source since it includes a handful of covers in a "publishing" database.
I think stuff usually gets added after its released
Thank you for keeping the spirit alive! Any minute now...
Ahh you’re back! π₯° lovely to see you!!!
