The publishing repertories only show credits for composition, so it won't necessarily match who's performing on the track. Greg being listed for 'Beyond Me' indicates that he contributed to the writing of the song.
People are taking these as being rock solid proof of Dave playing drums on the album, too, but (although not out of the question) it doesn't actually say one way or the other.
You only get writing credit if you’ve added significantly to the songwriting process. Adding progressions and chords to a preexisting melody and lyrics doesn’t qualify (there have been plenty of court cases with people trying to claim otherwise)
So if you’ve been asked to add, say, a harmonica or bvs you’d be getting a fee rather than a cut of the publishing.
If they’ve got another drummer in for the recording it means the But Here We Are songs were fully formed and they’ve just played exactly what Dave laid down. A competent drummer arrives and plays the exact same beats that another very competent drummer has already recorded in his own studio for his own song.
I bet the BMI records are a some sort of legal arrangement the FF enterprise has in place for band members.
I guess Rami has publishing in the songs he barely features in as he’s a band member? No way everyone listed ”adds significantly to the songwriting process” in every song they are listed in.
As they do not currently have an official band member as a drummer, they do not list whoever it is that has played on these new songs. Of course it could still be all DG.
I still suspect it’s Josh Freese, and that there have, in fact, been plenty of leaks but it just gets lost in the noise
I wonder if they’ll really do no press at all, it’s looking like it, and I wouldn’t blame them - they don’t really need to anyway. It’ll be interesting.
Haven’t seen any leaks although I follow things pretty closely.. I still hope it’s someone fresh to the game this size, would love to see Jorma Vik play with them.
I would have said Josh until the Devo dates clashes. Ain't no way after playing with them for over 25 years he's not taking the final bow with them on their farewell tour
I heard it on Planet Rock this morning, which is actually the first time I've heard it on the radio at all. I wondered whether it was particularly radio friendly or not, but it actually sounded better on there than I thought.
I feel like AlternativeNation.net was blocked on the old board for being a very specific type of garbage. Though, I assume this is coming from the Reddit thread posted yesterday, which was pretty convincing.
That’s what I was getting at in my last post, I think it’s been pretty obvious it’ll be Josh for awhile now. I’d be more surprised if it wasn’t.
I like Josh but I had sort of been hoping just because of Layla it would be someone else. Also I never think of Josh as anything but a temp. Jorma Vik being in need of a gig I was almost certain it was going to be him. Roger Taylor when asked about it did seem to suggest it might be Rufus. So I do wonder if it's not all a bit of misdirection.
It's a nice gesture but not to sound harsh I think they need to move on and name a full time successor as opposed to honouring him with guests for a tour. At a point it starts to feel a little like they're using his passing
Being drawn into an organization the size the FF is would not be easy for a regular joe, it must be someone who knows the ropes already. Freese fits this bill easily.

But wouldn't Shane be credited for royalties on that BMI page? One of the tracks has Greg listed, not sure if that is for writing or playing on it.

Ah okay, that makes sense. Guess we'll have to wait until the album comes out and see who is credited with what!
There'll almost definitely be a leak - i'll personally do my best to hold off but i'll want to take a peek at the liner notes!
This got me thinking - were Jessy and Drew credited on ESP&G?
Or the backup singers (sorry for not remembering the names) on MaM?

Seems kind of unnecessary.

Less than 3 weeks until the 1st tour date,
I’m amazed how there’s no leak on the drummer.
They must be rehearsing already with whoever it / they will be.

Ah yeah, that makes sense. Didn't realize that
Hey let’s ask @Tim about this, he probably knows who it is and is willing to share!
you kidding, right ☺️
I’m sure he’ll also share a good sounding I’m Alone Again while at it
'Rescued' is on BBC Radio 6's B-list. Oof.
Apart from Foos, PJ Harvey and Christine and the Queens.... who the hell are all the others? I must be so out of touch these days!
Finally….
I heard it on Planet Rock this morning, which is actually the first time I've heard it on the radio at all. I wondered whether it was particularly radio friendly or not, but it actually sounded better on there than I thought.
Guess it's Josh then

Interesting! 👀

Either way, we will know very soon

I still think it’s gonna be a bunch of drummers.
Would make a great emphasis on how no one can replace T.

It seems to be Freese (he’s a Paiste endorsee)

If it’s Josh Freese then that’s super cool.
and I met him in the airport in Edinburgh after seeing him play with Weezer…which would mean he’s the first Foo Fighter I met, weirdly enough.
Freese is a solid choice.

well…..now we know
We also have it confirmed that Dave was the drummer on the album
