No. I don’t think they are going to announce a new person and make a thing of it given the circumstances. I think someone will be playing with them at these shows, and it’ll either end up being permanent, or not.
I don't think they'd say anything before Taylor's anniversary anyway. It also depends if whoever is playing is intended to be a permanent member or not. Foos just strike me as maybe wanting someone who will be a band mate not just hired sticks, especially if they do end up doing their own tour next year.
All will be revealed in May if we don't hear before, will probably break the internet in Boston as people try to post pictures.
Maybe it’s just that I did not expect them to go on at all, and now that the tour is already building to be a sizeable deal I find it weird that no story on how they are going to go on is given out.
3 months until the first show, it could be that they are still looking (I bet that’s why DG and Nate were in Ireland) but I would guess it’s a minimum of a month for rehearsals before the shows start.
It was a different time in ’99 but of course whoever they are considering are well aware of the opportunity and probably have already learnt everything there is to learn in their likely set so rehearsal probably can be kept in a really short time period if needed.
It's not even like they need to learn the entire catalogue. Their set is pretty much the same every show so it's probably just a case of learning 20 songs
Yeah what I meant was that if a musician gets presented with this kind of opportunity and if it’s a gig that a musician really wants they’ll prep themselves as good as they can. Probably by learning as much songs and versions as they can.
Matt was awesome at the tribute, a great friend of Taylor, and I would like that choice, but NGL I would also really enjoy it for the “annoying Lola” factor.
Taking it with a KFC bucket worth of salt for now though.
If you think about it Matt is perfect. Dude is in the holy trinity of Grunge/Rock bands. PJ,SG,TOTD Now 3rd Secret and recording some cool tunes withPretty Reckless. He is a master. Cornell,Vedder and now Grohl. Damn that’s frontmen to play behind
No one will feel like he is trying to take Taylor’s place and will have the fans behind him.
What if it's a complete unknown? I mean it's a tough gig whoever takes the stool but fuck that pressure and scrutiny for an unknown would be immeasurable
Comments
Yeah JF is the most logical pick, basically this is what he does for a living.
Abe Laboriel Jr would rule though!
Anyone else find it weird at all that headliner announcements keep coming but still no word on who’s the ’new guy’?
Or is there gonna be a surprise album drop next month and the future lineup gets announced in conjunction with that?
They have a plan and we’ll know all about it when it’s ready to be revealed 💪

Yes of course.

It's possible they don't have a replacement locked in yet
This is true, a bit unlikely but still true.

If I remember correctly Shifty got about 2 weeks from hired to being out on the road

True
Stephen Perkins seems to be at 606
🤔
He mentions gig day and specifically tags Jane's Addiction so it sounds like it was a warm-up/rehearsal
Jane's are recording an album so it could just be they've picked 606
According to the sun Taylors seat will be held by matt cameron and atom willard.
Now the Mail are reporting it!
That will annoy Lola if Matt is playing for Foos.....

I can’t wait for that first show in NH.
I love Matt but he shouldn't be their drummer.
He wouldn’t be my first choice that’s for sure, but it does make sense.
The former Bronx / EoDM dude would be great, he’s a beast on the drum kit!
That's still who I see being named after I posted about it in the other thread
He’s pretty damn good
plus, Jorma is a Finnish name, and also is slang for dick in Finnish.
A solid choice on all accounts i’d say
I love him. Saw he’d left EoDM and was kinda curious.

This would be cool,
an open audition kinda deal like when Shiflett got the gig (he was not a complete unknown but still kinda)
Highly doubt it though
