I understand the points being made here and if it makes us talk about it that’s a good thing. Thing is - I’ve loved this band since 95 and my music is rock music. It’s what I listen to all the time and it’s why this band is my favourite band. If I want a funk or a dance album then I’ll check out artists in that genre.
Sometimes to me it just feels a bit too try hard to appease beyond the regular fan base in the name of “broadening” their catalogue. I’m not one of those who think the band is beyond criticism - plenty of their rock albums are packed with filler and will never see the light of day again live. Sonic Highways for such a big thing at the time is now just ignored pretty much.
I’ll still play this album a lot when it comes out. I can understand why they may want to do something different but the sound just doesn’t appeal to me in general. If it wasn’t a Foos album I’d probably not pay it any mind.
I don't know. I never know if I'm going to like it until I hear it. I definitely don't have a problem if the band want to go in a different direction - I see a group of guys who musically are all going in different directions in their solo projects and even though Dave is the songwriter, you'd think it's got to be some kind of influence.
They’re artists!! They don’t owe any of their fans anything. They’re doing what makes them happy and happen to be in a position where their output reaches a lot of people. Some will enjoy it, some won’t.
I don’t for a second believe there is an ounce of desperation or selling out in an effort to be a bigger act. They (like all artists should) are finding their own way creatively and progressing as a band.
ffs it’s an amazing feeling to know that new music from this band is about to drop. If I’m not listening to it in 3 months, then so what? (I bet I am, though)
Truth be told, I see this type of discussion for most bands out there!
Similar Sounding Stuff to Older Material: "They never take any chances! It's just them doing 'by-the-numbers' riffs and material! It's just the same songs and styling every time... take a chance and do something different!"
Slight Departure from Usual Sound: "They're trying too hard to appease the masses! They just want a pop hit! They're not being true to themselves! They should make the songs they actually want to make and what the real fans want to hear!"
"This song is “Shame Shame” its very different and a change of pace for the band, but it’s incredibly cool. The rest of the record is classic Foo’s with some new flavors (great female backing vocals). It’s somewhere between Nothing Left To Lose and Wasting Light. Saturday isn’t far.. 🙂"
I’m old skool, I happen to like the record most the band themselves hold in high regard, still calling it ‘some of their best work’ (this being TINTL). Of course I wish there would be more of that kindof songwriting.

It's coming!
Counting down to 10:10:10?
Which time zone?
The first X is filling up. 3 hours? 3 days?
what’ll arrive first today - new music or a new president?
The base of the 1st X has filled to quickly over the past 10 minutes for that to be a day.

A random comment on the album :

Album 5th February btw.
I just refreshed and I agree. I think it's an hour.
Wait what??
Ooohh please let the description on the rest of the album be accurate!
the link in whatsapp gives that info
Sorry, you lost me. WhatsApp?
1 min i'm uploading it
Who is this from? If so then it sounds like a promising?
Nothing wrong with either,
I’m old skool, I happen to like the record most the band themselves hold in high regard, still calling it ‘some of their best work’ (this being TINTL). Of course I wish there would be more of that kindof songwriting.
Apparently that could be the case this time!
Oh.... how disappointing 😂🥴
No, this is fine!! Gives me time to save up for a decent pre-sale package 🤣
Hahah. Although.... won’t the pre sale packages go on sale ASAP?
pre-orders will be soon yeah
Makes me think it’s counting down to the album release rather then the single.
it'll be a single release as the x's fill up, with the album pre-order at the same time
Omg!
Ah okay! Wonder when that’ll be!
I will soon discover whether I have to pay up front for pre-orders or not then.
