You're Wrong (in my opinion). They are still brilliant. One of the best live acts going. They came back with some great albums after they split and 'One Way Ticket to Hell... and Back' is a phenomenal album.
I've never seen them live but a friend has said they're brilliant. Perhaps if I had my opinion would be quite different! What I've heard isn't for me though.
My hometown has a festival every year and they booked The Darkness to close it out on the Sunday evening. It always ends around 6 on the last day. It also tends to be the family centric day whoever booked it clearly wasn't familiar with them. They realised themselves that the crowd was populated with a lot of kids.
So they changed this to Melon Farmer. A lot of fans (myself included) were confused until Justin was like yeah remember guys it's melon farmer. Come on kids sing it with me and then a knowing look. Then he mentioned how they'd not realised just how many kids there would be at this show when they agree to play.
They are a very talented bunch of guys and how Justin who is now sober gets the energy from is beyond me
I saw the Darkness twice, the second time was a Christmas gig where Justin rode a giant white tiger out over the audience. That whole gig was a good time, supported by Ash, and the fantastic Do Me Bad Things.
