I had seen the leaked clip and i didn't like it then, but it's a nice song. i agree about the last part, makes it much better, i like the quieter part too in the middle.
So far, i don't get the feeling of the ''booty-quake record'' ha! as Dave had described it.
It is. Like, I was listening to some of the earlier songs and he's always done it, but it just seems more obvious now, but it may be one of those things that becomes more obvious once you've noticed.
It might help to lower your expectations of what he means by "dance", because we know he saddles up on one idea and rides it into town.
Listened to the song again this morning and while the end is still really satisfying, now i'm frustrated by the way it takes so long to get there. Yet I loved the edging without release in 'Shame Shame'. Huh.
LOL, you know the worst part? I know how his PR mouth/mind works, and I always keep that in mind. But everytime I end up riding the davewave. Be it the danciest, or the loudest, or the garage-iest, or the proggest or whatever they do.
I’m sure this’ll make a great performance when they play it a few times. This sounded sloppy and.. Well they’re playing it like they probabl recorded it. It will get much better!
Liking this track more and more with every listen. Elements of Times Like These, But Honestly and New Way Home. I like all three they have released so far. We have heard a 1/3 of the album now. Only 6 other songs to hear and in a few weeks time, we will get to! 😁
As a child growing up in the suburbs of Washington DC, I was always afraid of war. I had nightmares of missiles in the sky and soldiers in my backyard, most likely brought upon by the political tension of the early 1980’s and my proximity to the Nation’s Capitol. My youth was spent under the dark cloud of a hopeless future.
Last fall, as I was driving my 11 year old daughter to school, she turned to me and asked, “Daddy, is there going to be a war?” My heart sank in my chest as I looked into her innocent eyes, because I realized that she was now living under that same dark cloud of a hopeless future that I had felt 40 years ago.
I wrote “Waiting On a War” that day.
Everyday waiting for the sky to fall. Is there more to this than that? Is there more to this than just waiting on a war? Because I need more. We all do.
This song was written for my daughter, Harper, who deserves a future, just as every child does.

Maybe more people will get the video now?
My favourite song in years - it's going to be a fucking anthemic beast when they play it live and elongate the end a bit.
Comments
I'm not excited about the repetitive lyrics on this. Feels like something that could have been on the awful ESP&G album.
Agree that it sounds ESP&Gish, fortunately I love that album
The repetative lyrics are definitely an established part of Dave's songwriting style, it seems a lot more pronounced these days.
I LOVE IT!!!

My favourite still is 'shame shame'.
Waiting for the Kimmel performance
Yeah this is how I feel. It’s his thing now
This song does actually have a something of a logical narrative, which is something Dave’s songs... don’t always have. So i like that
Yeah! I hope it’s a grower! I quite like it so far
Another non-dance song from the 'dance record' I was actually excited about.
Hopefully the other 6 (?) songs are dancier.
So far, only liked Shame, Shame.

That’s a really good way to phrase it! 🙂

Seriously?

A slice of classic Foo Fighters!

I liked the Kimmel performance but much like But Honestly, it’ll definitely shine more live!
The second music video from the album premieres on youtube in nearly 5 and a half hours! 7am CST says youtube for me.
Not the most exciting music video, but what was with the people with the paper bag faces?
I can't delete this, I'm really not trying to quote myself 😂
The video is schlock. I liked the paper bags bit, but that's all it had going for it.
I missed this announcement completely, what the hell?!?! 🤯
Who even are you right now?? 😂
Those people forgot their masks and had to improvise 🤷♂️
