Same for anyone. I remember seeing the National three times on a run. The early shows had brilliant vocals. The middle shows like 9 months to a year later - there was like numerous bottles of wine drunk and an exertion into the crowd that lasted for three songs. By the last few shows of the tour about two years later the crowd sang all the songs for him.
But you’re right about Dave. He’s back to his best! π₯³
Oh I know yeah. Dave just seems to blow his voice out fairly quickly. It seemed to be after he refused to cancel their BBC Big Weekend date due to vocal issues. I have the bootleg of the performance and he lasted maybe 1 song before just going full steam and you can hear the damage being done. After that his voice would start to deteriorate quicker into the tours in my opinion.
No surprises, unless you count ‘Skin & Bones’ but with an Afoostic set, it’s not entirely unexpected.
The newer spin on ‘Times Like These’, though? DIVINE. Obviously taking notes from the Live Lounge cover but with Rami’s keys as the only instrumentation, it sent me to heaven.

What a time to be alive
Dave hasn't sounded that good in years. I think I caught most of it with a few minutes missed
Wow! I really needed that!

That was incredible β€
His vocal chords have definitely had a rest!
They sounded great!
its good you can go back and re-watch (while the video stream is still live)
I feel so grateful and full of love and the sweet gospel of Foo and all that!!
Worth waking up for that’s for sure
Definitely. And had his hair done! π₯°
Love that Nate ignored the wear dark colours memo. Also here for Shiflett’s mullet and moustache combo.
Yeah for sure. I've said since the IYH tour if you get Dave late into the album cycle tour you're not getting his voice at its best.

It’s on their official YouTube!
I agree with you!
'Skin and Bones' had a new spin to it too. made it much more interesting!
I'm just about to rewatch it on the big screen downstairs now. What a way to start a day π
I liked These Days acoustically.
Its interesting that 'Learn to Fly' was, literally, an exclusive to the Jimmy Kimmel show. Good stuff...considering they had a short slot.
