we will see the album, their plan of release may change slightly though... because nothing has been announced about it they can just delay and pretend it was the original plan
Haven't had time to fully dive into MOJO yet, but in regards to the van tour Pat mentions the original plan for the 20th anniversary was to replicate the exact tour as 1995 in the van. Until they realised that was likely to break up the band.
After reading Mojo this may be the first time Dave’s comments that ‘it’s unlike anything we’ve ever done’ ring truest. Drum loops, Finger snaps & prominent appearances from the back-up singers.
Taylor is bracing himself for the reaction. “It’s the most pop fantastic record we’ve ever made.”
The album was recorded in a rented Encino house that the band were convinced were haunted & who’s history Dave has signed a NDA not to talk about so the landlord can sell it.
Murder house or otherwise it's still going to be interesting to find out their rationale/idea for the recording location. It's seemingly basically a repeat of Wasting Light, but in a rented house down the road from Dave's place.
I don’t have the issue to hand right now. But this started like Concrete & Gold - with Dave Airbnb-ing a secluded place to go write then discovering it was a bit of a 1970s party house and an album had been recorded there. So Chris said the decision to actually record there was an exercise in not repeating themselves - be it musically or the actual recording process.
Sebastian Artz took took the pics of the band for the article the day before Dave played MOJO 6 rough mixes at 606 - as Sebastian posted an instagram with Dave on Feb 7th that tells you where they were in the mixing process.
well....other than the snippet Foo Fighters released in January (which seems YEARS ago now, btw) all I'm hearing is "pop" and "party" and "80s" and "different to anything we've done before" 💃🕺
"...for a band who've up to this point painted different shades of their trademark heavy pop, it's surprising to hear them step out onto the dancefloor."
that was the MOJO writer's take on the 6 unmixed tracks played for him by Dave. Elsewhere 'glittered-up glam rock' & 'funky Bowie influences' are also mentioned.

i'll fight on until the bitter end to make sure I hear the album 🧟
Foo fighters can give us a single before the true Walking Dead begins😢

Ha. That would be funny. Seeing them all roll-up in a van and pile-out.

Cool!!!
I hope it has the sound of Wasting Light. Any idea on producer?
No mention in the piece.

Isn't the producer already confirmed as Greg Kurstin?
And it definitely won't have the WL sound if it's being described as "pop fantastic" with drum loops and finger snaps.
A cocktail of Wasting Light + Concrete and Gold would be something very special! 2 of my top 3 FF albums.
I found the house where they recorded the new album on a real estate website.
interestingly the pics for the listing were taken last Summer while Dave was there demoing.

nice one Paul!
^^ That's amazing!
Nice detective work!
Very interested to read the haunted house stories
How cool is this 😊
will this be a 'Concrete and Gold Pt2' type thing? 😏
I hope it’s more Wasting Light than Concrete & Gold

It's a disco album

You can assume Phil Alexander gets the same vibe after he tagged his Instagram post about the playback 'Rolling Stones Disco Rules'
