IMHO it's literally selling out... it's not a pure rock gig anymore when being rich gets you anywhere including on stage etc for some gigs.
They can and do sell to people that aren't even big fans just so they can say they did it. And every one sold excludes one more real fan at the back of the line that will spend ages waiting and miss out on the front pit.
Have they done anything to make the upgrades properly tout proof?
It's weird when you follow bands, you want them to get bigger and do well for themselves when you think they're good, but as an average fan it goes hand in hand with being slowly priced out of the market. Back in 2002, my friend and I followed Coldplay around the country a bit, and we got a weeks' worth of tickets for the price of one now. I know you have to take in inflation, the increase in venue size, increased production costs etc, but that always increases more than people's wages and disposable income increases. So as you say, rich people go more because it's a status symbol rather than because they love the band. I'm not to say who should go to a gig or not because I'm not about to gatekeep the band I love, but being the person who can't afford £140 a ticket just to be closer to the stage, it feels unfair.
Started a wee Foo Fighters fund during covid to pay for tickets and travel and then it was all about waiting till the world got a little bit better and the band got back on the road
Absolutely delighted and buzzing for next summer getting to see the band in Lisbon, London and Milan
The band definitely helped me and the Mrs through the first lockdown every Saturday night scouring you tube for any full concerts from around the world to watch and hoping we will be able to get back to seeing the band again
I know it's an early and probably pointless concern, but hopefully posters will be available to buy at the gig, and the VIP litho isn't the only thing they're making for it.
That was such a good one. Ended up with a bruised kidney from the pit! We had tickets for Brum the next day, so we drove up to stay with my friend's parents but some old guy drove into the side of us on the way up, so by the time we got to the gig it had been an eventful day π€£
I know I'm in lockdown 12684 miles away, and I'll never get to go, and the good tickets are no doubt mostly sold out already, and I do have that email if I open Gmail and find it but....
Can I please please please have the CODE. π€£π€£
Aussie borders are opening soon, so now need to book flights to the UK. I've got the tickets and booked the hotels, talk about reverse order ha ha!
Now we just also need them to come here! They can tour without going to WA can't they? π (for those who don't know our situation Western Aus is in no hurry to open up to the rest of the country or the outside world....)
Now that Michael Eavis has revealed the band were due to headline the one day Glastonbury replacement in September 2021. I can finally quote tweet this old post of mine to show the ‘xin’ wasn’t a typo, just me clumsily trying to spell the word Equinox 2021 as an acrostic.
Seeing how they don't do back-to-back shows these days, they've a gap that leaves Friday December 2nd free... If I was an Aussie I'd have my fingers crossed that was for an intimate gig.

just you try and stop me π»
I've gone for the 2nd July. Don't have to use so much leave then I hope.
Let’s have beers/ catchup drinks!
Awesome!
I'm definitely hoping to go up for a few days and see some people π€
Yes! This needs to happen.

Ah, I hope so. Should be really good!

Can not fooking wait !
new Foo Fighters email title : "Tickets for England Shows On Sale Today!!!"
LOL
Ha. Clearly fed up of us moaning π
St Vincent and Shame as support makes that Thursday a tidy lineup. Will go for London night 2 and Brum nearer the time.
A cheeky gig in Cardiff would be nice, the Principality is a good venue.
I keep my fingers crossed every time they'll come back to Cardiff. One day I guess...
I know it's an early and probably pointless concern, but hopefully posters will be available to buy at the gig, and the VIP litho isn't the only thing they're making for it.
Agreed
Cardiff 07 was one of the best I’ve been to!

Ohh noo! I’m glad you guys were okay, but that sounds very traumatic! That Birmingham gig got Alone & Easy Target. Teenage me cried my eyes out
It was a crackingly good time.

Bumping this, but we've sorted our hotel for July, so now I'm all excited again π
Cool!

Hopefully everyone in Aus and NZ are happy today??!!
Wasn't Friday night soooo good?!
It’s too bloody soon! They could’ve at least waited a pay cycle!

"I'm definitely banking on a Nov/Dec ANZ tour announcement soon - as per 2011 schedule to close out the year.
Lock down your Earthquake monitors."
