BBC Two have announced a very (very, very, very) awesome guest for the next instalment of their Reel Stories series: Dave Grohl.
The Foo Fighters frontman will join host Dermot O’Leary for "an in-depth look back at his career to date", from "his first TV performance with Nirvana aged 22, right through to headlining Reading & Leeds Festival in 2019".
"When I do look back on [these clips] it’s a really emotional experience," Dave says. "Over the years we’ve had serious ups and downs. We’ve been through deaths and divorces, we’ve been through Wembley Stadiums and playing at the White House. We’ve had a lot of incredible experiences but I would never wish any of it away – well, maybe some of it! – because I just love to do it."
Dermot adds: "It was such a pleasure to sit down and chat to Dave Grohl.
"Dave is one of the funniest, smartest and kindest people in the music industry, and his story of being in two of the world’s greatest bands is fascinating. We had a great chat!”
Reel Stories: Dave Grohl is set to air on BBC Two on March 27, with Foos' 2019 Reading set playing directly afterwards. Sounds like a pretty perfect way to spend a Saturday, tbf.

yayayayayayaya
I was approached a few months ago to suggest some clips to be played to Dave for this, so I made a list & ripped a few old VHS tapes. Who knows what’ll make the final cut of course, but still - it’s a cool format.
That’s so cool. Look forward to watching!
Awesome! congrats.
Hopefully some new anecdotes surface. It’s annoying to be a diehard fan because we all know all his anecdotes 😅
Oh i missed this! Fantastic!!
If nothing else, I’m glad Dave was played the TFI Friday clip I suggested. It means that after 23 years (and 3 different accounts of what happened) I finally get to hear his account of the incident.
He probably won't even remember
He remembers it quite clearly. As you'll see when it airs.
ah excellent. that'll be interesting to see 😀
Ooooh ☺️
THANK YOU! I'd not have known without this post. Much Appreciation!
Oh man this is priceless
Cried my eyes out. Really missing live gigs and the lads like. Now watching Reading highlights
It was weird - I can recall vividly sitting on the floor of my parent’s house, about 11.30pm on a Sunday a Night & hitting record for that Headbanger’s Ball clip...weird to think 26 years later it’d be used for something like this. Thought I feel a bit sorry for Vanessa Warwick getting the reaction she got for her 90s hair... but then when I posted the clip on twitter a few years ago she did say something similar.
Sad that a whole morning’s filming gets trimmed to 45 minutes, that ep could easily have had double the running time. The jump from forming Foo Fighters straight to 1x1 was a little jarring.
It's now 'up' on the BBC New website under Entertainment
and
Same. I can't watch the video because it's blocked in the US but I was able to listen to the audio.
Same
That was great... only complaint, not long enough!!
It really wasn't! And it felt a bit like they were rushing towards the end and just jumped straight to Medicine at Midnight
I LOVED it and i want more!
less KISS and less Italian drummers, I think add another hour, and it would've been a banger. well done @FooArchive for providing a load of great content.
Yeah, I enjoyed it but they really struggled to squeeze in the information into such a small time slot. The first 3 albums were covered reasonably considering the lack of time. There was only a short negative mention of One by One. IYH, ESP&G, WL and the other later albums were not really mentioned at all, then more or less straight to Medicine at Midnight. But it focused on other mainstream type things such as the Italian 1000 doing Learn to Fly and the BBC charity version of Times Like These.
I was actually surprised how much attention was paid to Nirvana at the beginning. Nearly one third of the show I think. Then again there are probably promotional reasons for that as part of the story.
I remember when they did that 24 hours of Foo in 2005 I went to my grandpa’s because we didn’t have sky... and I recorded the whole thing on video... and I’ve still got them somewhere - about 12 tapes 😂😂
It was a whole morning of filming & obviously they then had to loose chunks to condense it into a tight 45 for broadcast. It’s a shame things like this don’t get DVD releases any more, so ‘bonus footage’ doesn’t really factor in to anyone’s thinking.
Shame, shame
I'd love a physical copy of it
I have it all on a bunch of DVDs somewhere...
Yessss! Great minds!
1080p can be DL here - not my link and the site can have a few annoying pop ups on some browsers, but it's worth the minor drama.
