There was a missed opportunity for the heart exploding with red liquid to be a nod to The Pretender.
The project page on the studio's site confirms the exploding heart is a callback to 'The Pretender'!
I dig it. I've never been huge on animated videos in general, but this one seems to do the song justice. I think the callbacks and having everyone in the band be pretty prominent helps too.
DG said in the AMA a few hours ago that this is one of his favourite videos they've done lately. Still, that it's even been singled out for release is...confounding.
