New song.... it’s been out there. Who else has heard it? What’s your take?
Id definitely sticK by my comments on earlier threads that this album will be the Foos’ Hot Space based on this.
It’s a different song that builds - no real big chorus - and it sounds like rather drum machiney.
It could be a dance record. It could be a funk record. It could be a rock record. Who knows? With all these crossover rock bands who could be dance bands (TwentyOne Pilots for example) being big right now it whiffs a bit of bandwagon jumping.
Just is firmly OUT on this for me right now, but I’m intrigued to hear more.

Prior to a big band having a comeback single (Coldplay, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys all recent examples) Radio One start dropping their old songs into shows to give their listeners a ‘refresher’. (there’s no such thing as a “surprise” release - the promo machine is always working)
Looking at their archived playlists for the past fortnight - no Foo Fighters tracks have been played on any of the 3 big weekday shows. It was gonna happen eventually (their target demographic is 15 - 29) but this could be the first Foo Fighters single that doesn’t make the playlist.
Might make buying tickets easier in future then 😂
They're played constantly on radio x but their audience is a fraction of R1 and the target demographic is 20-50 I reckon.
Really interesting viewpoint. If anything this song is a bit more Radio 1 friendly than many of their others with heavy riffs and screaming vocals etc.
Another thing to consider - in the past a single was used to announce a forthcoming album, loads of artists these days release a track that kind of announces the single which will announce the album (if that makes sense?). If the album is 2021, this could just be being used as a bridge to a track that is more “single” at a later date.
A promotional single, like they did with ‘Exhausted’
Mmmhh there is LPX everywhere on the snippets, album cover leaked, snippets of songs leaked, Even Album title leaked.
Just wait and see maybe this will a big announcement with pre-order

I managed to have a little listen of ‘ shame shame’ it’s really different, but in a good way. Nice to see them pushing the boat out. Won’t proper judge it till I listen to the actual release.
I've not listened to it - on purpose - but hearing mixed reviews.
It often takes a while for a song to grow on me (TSIAN was one I really disliked for ages but it steadily grew on me) so I want to wait until we get the full version.

See I feel like for me it was the other way around. I quite liked it when released and then I got a bit fed up of it compared with some of the other tracks on the album. But now I like it again :)
The general reaction I'm seeing so far is on its own, the song is solid. It's just a surprising lead effort to return with, especially knowing there are other rockers/more likely candidates from the January teasers.

I haven't heard the whole song but I can't stop humming Nate/Chris's clip, dum dum- dumdumdum - dum dum - dumdumdum. There's a funky sound behind the bass.

I think what I said up there 👆 about Shame Shame being the pre-single stands.
They drop this as a “We’re Back!” it creates a buzz, the music press (or what’s left of it) have a “...this doesn’t sound like Foo Fighters” “...taking risks in their 25th year” angle. Some people will love it, some will hate it. The promo train rolls on over Christmas, then in January you get a single with a bigger push, that sounds quintessentially ‘Foo Fighters’ and that hooks back in the casual listener to pick up M@M in February, who maybe wouldn’t have been too bothered if all they’d heard was Shame Shame.

Definitely a fresh vibe for the Foo. It’s ok, I quite like it but probably needed another section in the track for me. It gets old quite quickly. Think I agree with Mr. Foo Archive on the strategy. Not sure what all three guitarists will do in this song when they play it live. Maybe a note each?
That rehearsal clip from 606 a few weeks back was Shame Shame wasn’t it? Dave & Barbara drumming on the wall. Well, seeing how Barbara is a drummer, maybe she and Dave will be adding percussion to the track so it’d just be 2 guitars?
It gets fairly "rocky" later in the song with their usual guitar sound explosion. This clip doesn't really give much away still.
The track on the clip, sound like another song from the record but i dont want to spoil you
