Yeah I’ve had about 5 emails from them in the last week asking me to preorder (I already have) - wonder if their numbers are lower than expected lol 😬😊
I think a lot of people will order the record locally, wonder if Foos get those stats? Or may just wait until it's in the shops.
So for us in Oz, we have to wait for it to come from the US, which I have done. I'm away so getting it sent to friends house so doesn't really matter how long it takes! But otherwise I would have ordered it locally for ease but actually it was cheaper to buy it from Foos direct even with the postage! I could have got it in the UK but then I'd be worried about getting it back as I know the cases will be tight 🤣 So I'll be Spottying it to begin with!
If I weren't overcome with FOMO every time something is announced, I could've held out for the JB Hi-Fi release - almost half the cost of the official store!
Of the UK's two big music magazines - Uncut came out yesterday, Mojo is out next Tuesday. Neither carry a review or even an advertisement for But Here We Are.
Even in the past few years when you could've said social media had a far greater reach than magazines, Foo Fighters always remained in that very fixed interview/review/release cycle when it came to the music press.
And in the past with 3 weeks until release I'd usually know a few people who'd heard the album. This time I know of one.
It's possible. If they do press, they're just going to get asked that question over and over again and sometimes you really just aren't up to talking about it. This way you can put the music out and let it speak for itself. There aren't many bands that could genuinely do that and not have it affect them in the long run.
I don't think anyone is choosing to ignore them - If the magazines aren't given a preview copy they can't review it, if an ad isn't bought by the record company it doesn't run. I was just noting this time around they aren't following their old pattern.
Thanks for the answers. Yeah, obviously they can’t do much if they aren’t given anything to work with. Will the next issues be too late for reviews? Just asking because not sure if there is a rule on that.
The next issues will be out the week or so after the album, so it will get reviewed. Noel Gallagher, Ben Folds & Cowboy Junkies new albums are all reviewed in the new MOJO & they are all out the same day as Foo Fighters.
It isn’t a big issue, it’s just interesting (but also understandable) that they’ve stepped away from their usual pattern this time around.
I think it will be an album that speaks for itself, what can they say about it that we can't already guess? People will really savour the lyrics because they will be the interviews, they don't have to explain this album.
Although, it's been mentioned that Dave and the guys really don't want to have a Kurt situation for the next 10 years where journo's are angling for answers, every song is about Taylor etc. I still think Dave doing an exclusive would be a good way to go, obviously not with a certain publication....
I hope when it gets to the point that they will talk about it, the whole band to do the exclusive, I don't think there's a reason Dave would have to do it by himself, it still would be hard to talk about, regardless of when it happens.
It's possible it won't, from the sounds of it less people have heard it already than would normally get to hear a new album early so maybe it'll get to release day fresh and unspoiled.

Also that's my birthday so it would have been even better if it had landed then!
I've had two emails from Foos within a few hours telling me about the new album as if I didn't know 🤣

What happened to good ole album leaks?
If it were the olden days someone would have heard the album already and I’d read every comment made about it on the board imagining the songs.
no the olden days are definitely before leaks on the internet, and I’m loving this right now.
no music video, no promotion, nothing but 1 single. Really enjoying this anticipation.
I did. My resolve will just get weaker as time goes on though 😂

Different times.
Are they salty the band (rather understandably) has opted to forgo press this time?
Rescued does seem to be doing OK on North American radio. I have heard it on my 20-minute commute several times (on different days, of course).
Also, do you know what the person who heard it thought? (I assume you can’t answer that)
Its all very low-key for Foo Fighters.
I think they want to let the album do the talking. It's material born from tragedy and maybe they're just not ready to talk about that yet.

"Heavy" - to be taken both ways.
"Heavy" - to be taken both ways.
This excites me more than anything.
Same!
Wow, this album is going to destroy me.

This is the first time I can recall that a single did not chart at all in Australia.

It will be heavy and musically heavy sounds good.

Awww 💔

❤️
The only reason I said Dave is that most interviews are with him but yes, it should be the whole band, everyone is together.
I saw the album artwork this morning.... 💔
Can’t believe this is out next week. Hoping it doesn’t get leaked before then.
It's crazy how quick that's come around

I’m really excited to hear the album now!
Has anyone else got a shipped message on their pre-order. I got one friday, and it says it's coming this thursday.
No, not had anything yet.
