Hola. For what it's worth. Vinyl release inbound.

Not going to lie I'm disappointed by this
You mean you don't want David Bowie and Bing Crosby's masterpiece Little Drummer Boy ๐
Nope ๐
I really didn't want this to be a limited thing. I also wanted a CD
Do we know how limited it's going to be? I doubt it'll be as difficult or expensive to find as Dee Gees (๐ค)
Who knows, maybe it will get a cd/full release down the line.
12k was the number on the us rsd site... how they get distributed or if there is a print for rest of world I have no idea.
It'll probably be in the £20-30 region here...
Ugh! That’ll be a nightmare to try and snap up
I managed to pick up Making a Fire after the day but that wasn't as limited. I hate no hope with Hail Sati , so I'll never pick this up. I wish labels would just make good vinyl like this more accessible all year round.
100% agree - RSD was created to help struggling Indie stores and to rekindle an interest in vinyl as there were fears that it was headed to where it might actually die out.
That's now long avoided with sales doubling year on year over several of the past 6-7 years, and many many new releases going onto vinyl - and now good lord even cassette is starting to come back.
RSD has become a cash engine - limited numbers, higher prices... At first it was a flippers paradise - but lo and behold - in the case of releases like the Dee Gees vinyl - the very very worst scalpers were some of the indie stores THEMSELVES. They held back stock - and it went on eBay at 10x the retail price. I counted at least a dozen stores I could identify.
And if they just released it as an general LP - they could have sold 20x the number easily (prob 100+)... meaning a way bigger return than even selling the RSD run at 10x the price. And its not like there are no RSD duds - some stuff gets run off and is still for sale years later - meaning it still made more sense to press to demand rather than arbitrary advance guessing.
I’m waiting for CDs to make a comeback!!
I messaged my local record store (which had loads of stock of Making a Fire) and they've said they're going to stock this, they'll let me know the price on Monday. Sometimes it's great living in the retirement capital of the UK. (Having said that, my next door neighbour but one was tour manager for Thin Lizzie and Ozzie Osbourne back in the day so it's not all Victor Meldrew ๐)
It’s happening. Here, anyway.
EVERYTHING audio recording related comes back - one way or another...
It's when it's Derek Trotter that you need to be worried... ๐คฃ๐คฃ
He could probably get it cheaper ๐
If it was available on the general market, we'd all buy it and they'd get their money. I hope it all becomes more open, but like everything, if it sells then the people up top don't really care what happens afterwards. But I'm always glad record sales are up.
I am finding more and more now bands not doing CD runs. Which saddens me.
My local (UK) record shop say they'll be selling Dream Widow for around £20.
Any news on this release for Australia? I looked at the RSD site and they've not said anything about Nov releases. One store I tried for Hail Satin is supposed to have updated their site with Nov releases but hasn't yet...
Vinyl out today! Record Store Day - Black Friday
It doesn't seem subject to the usual RSD scarcity either. I guess it being a week day makes it tricker. I strolled out at lunch and got a copy from my local store, they had a bunch left over which will be going online. Lovely :)
Wow! Lots of US folks don't seem to have had much problem getting it on the FB pages. I had heard the UK were only getting 250 copies.
I'm not sure how many Australia was getting, I track it down in Melbourne but two shops only had 5 available. One store's stock is delayed. I couldn't get to the shops either yesterday and today but one suddenly announced at the end of yesterday more stock coming in later and I ordered one online. I won't get excited until it arrives!
who has it online? I had to work today and my local only had 5 copies.
Sorry only just saw this. The two stores near me are sold out now. This place has some stock going live at 6pm, its 30 quid so a little over RRP but better than eBay:

Was asking @Koala Foo for something a little closer to home, don't fancy paying a premium as well as international shipping.
I ordered one from vinyl.com.au but they fucked me over in the past with Dee Gees, so I'm not hopeful. Otherwise I have a friend holding a spare so I at least have options.
Ah sorry, I was working yesterday so didn't check in again later on to see your reply. Unfortunately they are all gone now but try Captain Stomp, they haven't got their stock in yet. Message them, the owner gets back really quickly, that's where I got my Hail Satin from.
Cheers, no stress. I've got one on hand in Sydney if vinyl.com.au falls through (which I fully expect to)
I picked up a copy for £18 on Saturday at a local record store in Southport, UK. They had 4 copies in stock for RSD and two were left over at the end of the day. I managed to get one and the other went in the morning. The owner mentioned that the record distributers had other copies available so definitely not THAT limited.
I'd been saving Studio 666 and watched it the night before on Now TV. It's a fun movie and great to see the band. Dream Widow is awesome. It reminds me a little bit of Probot: heavy but fairly simple tunes which works really well.
I'd also left Medicine at Midnight in its plastic wrapping since release date and cracked it open after hearing Love Dies Young during the credits of Studio 666. Nice album. I'll have to go back now and listen to everything I have missed since One by One (with the exception of Wasting Light which I picked up due to Pat Smear returning and grabbed the limited CD with the master tape included).
Let's hope you end up with two!
Vinyl is soooo much cheaper outside of Australia! My DW was almost $70 which is 38 pounds or 47US!!! When we went to LA we popped into Amoeba and vinyl was so cheap (even with the crap exchange rate!) but we were at the top end of our luggage allowance. :(
